ABOUT: The secret to living is giving. That is to say, by contributing to the well-being of others, our communities and the world at large, we find more meaning in life. With an unwavering passion to improve his community and the quality of their lives, to inspire and encourage the helpless people to achieve greater heights, Dr. Kumarendran started his philanthropic fervor in 2015. What started as a humble deed to serve the people is now a registered (2018), official and legal entity established to continue serving the people in need. A small group of friends with Dr Kumarendran joins and discuss on how they can serve the helpless people within our reach – who face day-to-day challenges on shortage of food, medical and educational assistance. Originally this was initiated during 2015 and they were doing on a small scale, as the needs raised to greater heights the group decided to go officially with more same minded friends and with public supports to establish “Persatuan Kebajikan Jayam Naamnadu Kuala Lumpur and Selangor”, It was registered on 16 April 2018 as legal entity and today we have 21 dedicated EXCO members and 165 ordinary members from different professional and background with local and international experience in our organization to help the Malaysian communities to its best.

OUR VISION:

The work is aimed at targeted assistance to underprivileged people in the form of charitable donation from sponsors and patrons.
Providing material, technical, information and legal and humanitarian assistance charitable events and programs.
Offer additional resources to families with children all over Malaysia as well as support to schools and kindergartens located in poor regions.
Organize educational and awareness programs and activities to produce quality students for the future generation.
Assist the welfare and human rights of foreign workers working in Malaysia.

EDUCATION

From 2015, before the organization became registered, to present, having a registered charitable organization; Persatuan Kebajikan Jayam Naamnaadu Kuala Lumpur & Selangor, some of the outstanding charitable activities that was in the field of education. We believes passionately in the transformative power of education, and he has devoted his life to working with schools and underprivileged students to provide better conditions for their academic accomplishments. The organization adopted 10 schools around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, brought the schools under their wings and every year provided the schools with facilities so the schools can operate more efficiently, and the students can study more effectively.
Dr. Kumarendran and the members of the organization have sponsored 300 underprivileged students with uniforms, books, bags, shoes, stationaries and paid their school fees to ensure children are receiving the kind of literacy instruction they deserve without any obstructions.

MEDICAL

We upholds that ‘we can’t let those who are unable to make it themselves just fall through the cracks in our system. We need to help every kind of people.’ Part of his contributions include the provision of Ayurveda and contemporary medical treatments for the disabled people. Not only that, but the we also donated wheelchairs, diapers, medications, government help and even helped the disabled to get their disabled OKU card. We have extended much medical assistance to patients; right from the paralyzed to the mentally challenged with paid medical treatments, sponsoring adult diapers, medicines, and special milk powders as per patients’ needs. Good intentions aren’t enough. Philanthropy, in its most effective form, must yield measurable result and it is evident in this organization’s quest.

CHARITY ON INDEPENDENCE DAY

FESTIVAL CHARITY

Hailing from a multinational and multicultural nation like Malaysia, celebrations like Hari Raya, Christmas and Deepavali can’t be excluded from the agenda. Our team have taken productive initiatives to help the needy families who are living from hand to mouth basis by providing them with household necessities such as household essentials, new clothes, and cookies, to accentuate the experience of celebrating and bringing small sparks of joy to these families. In 2019, the organization helped sponsor 200 families, whereas in 2020 they sponsor increase to 350 families and for this year 2021, due to COVID – 19 Pandemic 2021 the number of families that received help in terms of grocery sponsor is increased to 500. They are providing Deepavali aid for 500 underprivileged and needy families to enable them to experience the joys of the Deepavali festival. We have been doing this Deepavali charity for past 3 years, and this year will be their 3rd year charity with helping more than 500 needy families from B40 Category from 10 areas around Kula Lumpur & Selangor.

FOOD SPONSOR FOR HOMELESS

Not all in Kuala Lumpur (KL) are fortunate to have a roof above their head and have at least meal per day. There are some in KL who need as much as we can give and more. We, sponsors, contributors, and volunteers, provided good food, some snacks and love, for the homeless people around KL. We not only distribute food; they also take the time to talk to the homeless people so that they may learn more about them. Our rationale behind this is that by learning more about them, it helps us to understand how we can help more than by just giving out food.

COVID AID

After the pandemic hit in March 2020, the service and support that our organization rendered to the community never stopped. While the lock down consumed many and devastated the economy and income of many families, the organization continually reached out to help the underprivileged and B40 families in batches. The number of families that the organization reached out to during the Movement Control Order (MCO) since 2020 to 2021 is around 1500 families. During this period, with the loss of income for many, the organization assisted many students to pay their school fees and to pay for the internet connection for the students to study online.

BUISESS OPPURTUNITY

Apart from that, the organization has helped many people by creating business opportunities for those who lost their jobs. They aided and assisted these people to start a business whether it was to start catering business, to put up food stalls, open salons and barber shops and even send women for bridal courses so they can generate income for themselves. One remarkably astute a Chinese proverb, “Give a man a fish and you’ll feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish, and you’ll feed him for a lifetime.” Dr Kumarendran always believe in this quote and have lighten up a bright future in many underprivileged families especially to single mothers and disable person.

FOREIGNER HELP

This aid did not only stop for the local people, but we have extended his help to the foreign workers as well. Many foreign workers lost their jobs and the organization sponsored food for them. The organization also helped some migrant workers with no proper documentation to return to their home countries. Each return was unique in its own way and highlighted the different and extreme conditions the migrants faced amidst the COVID-19 pandemic prior to their return. However, Dr. Kumarendran was undeterred by all these and persevered. Apart from that, he also has sponsored Bihar Siddharth Compassion Trust, to install water pump at Bela Village Gaya, Bihar India. The village having water issue for many years, and they need to walk for long distance to get the water. But now with Dr Kumarendran initiative their water problem was settled.

FOOD SUPPLY

HARI RAYA Food supply to baggers within the city of Kuala Lumpur – a simple project that was initiated by our Dr. Kumarendran Balakrishnan and Jayam-NGO arrange the food items that was jointly prepared by our associates. We plan to take this as our annual event by starting up this humanitarian food services from 2018 – 26 May 2018.
Update: We will be serving the underprivilege people in the street at the coming year as well.

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

Vasanthi Raman is a wheel chair patient from Cheras having difficulty to mobile herself. Her current wheel chair was getting repaired on/off due to old equipment and desperately seeking donor. Her needs was brought to our notice by Rukumani Ramaiyah and Jayam-NGO visited her and manage to raised sufficient fund to purchase a new wheel chair for her. – July 8, 2018
Update: She is now moving herself with the new wheel chair and also started doing her own small business by selling stationary items like writing pens in the public place to support her livelihood. She also recently visited Jayam-NGO to thanks us for the support and she is now very happy with the new wheel chair.

MEDICAL TREATMENT (AYURVEDA)

NAGARAJAH Segeran is a Down syndrome patient from Port Dickson having difficulty to communicate and unrest at most of the time. He had immediate requirement for alternative medical treatment and his father Segeran was seeking help from general public and this called by WhatsApp was noticed by our Mahendran Muthusamy. Understanding the urgent need was raised fund to support his travel to Kerala for Ayurveda treatment. – July 15, 2018
Update: Nagarajah has completed the first course of treatment in Kerala – India and currently under six months medication. After the traditional Ayurvedic treatment he has reasonably improved and that helps his mother Puguneswary much better to manage now.

MEDICAL TREATMENT (ELEPHANTIASIS)

CHITRAWATHY Kupusamy is a Lymphatic Filariasis (Elephantiasis) patient from Taman Sri Jaya – Kluang, Johor – having this unfortunate disease at the age of 22 was very sad thing and for the past 23 years she had been suffering to walk. She needs to take heavy medication such as Nano Cell and Ganoni for sustaining her health condition from growing further of her both legs. Chitra situation was brought to our noticed by our Chandran Gunasearan. We understand the seriousness of the problems and urgently raised fund to support her one-month medication cost. – August 30, 2018
Update: Chitra still continue the medication as this disease cannot be cured and we hope more people/NGO are coming forward to continue supporting her the medical needs. The cause of disease is a simple mosquito that has destabilized many young people like Chitra globally.

MEDICAL TREATMENT (AYURVEDA)

NYNASEELAN Kumar is a Paralyzed victim at the age of 22 years due to motorbike from Pengkalan Kempas, Linggin Negeri Seramban. He was traveling by motor bike after the work in the evening, a car hit him and run away. He is currently not able to take any food and communicate. He had immediate requirement for alternative medical treatment and his father Kumar was seeking help from general public through RMS Sara & Team video that was shared in the WhatsApp group and it was noticed by our Mahendran Muthusamy. Understanding the urgent need was raised fund to support his travel to Kerala for Ayurveda treatment.
Update: We have provided alternative herbal medication through our contact Dr Siva and Nynaseelan has reasonable improved and start recognizing and communicate through eye signal.

MEDICAL TREATMENT (FOOD-MILK POWDER)

MITHIRAN Siva Kumaran is 7 years child had Guillain Barre Syndrome – (AMSAN Variant) two years ago when he wakes up in the morning, he was not able to walk as his feet was dropping down without the control of the verve system and become very difficult to walk like normal child. He also has regular muscle pain in the both leg and he is from Sungai Petani. We come to know of his situation through WhatsApp group. He is required special milk to drink in order to keep up his leg muscle strength.
Update: We have provided the special milk for few months. It was bring to our noticed that he had recently went to Kochi, Kerala for ayurvedic treatments (21 days) and some 20% improvement has been seen in the leg and his leg pain has been drastically reduced after having ayurvedic treatment from Kerala.

DEEPAVALI FESTIVEL FOOD AND DRESS

SINNAMAH Chellamuthu (mother) and PREMAH Manie (daughter-widow) is from Kampung Seri Tanjung – Dengkil, Sepang. They are living under poverty line and day to day food was challenging for them as mother Sinnamah (70 years) is stoke patient and Premah have to take care of her including washing and up keeping her. Premah is not able to work but as and when time allow, she use to collect scrap for sales to support their leaving.
They also having challenging on old house that is 30 years old without land title and in the stage of collapse.
We to the opportunity of festival season to provide Deepavali cakes and dressing and personally visited them.
Update: We provide counseling and their house matters once again brought to the notice to Aduan office in Dengkil and yet to get any feedback land title for rebuilding the house.

FOOD SUPPORTING FUND

NARENDREN Samynadan and wife Rohini Devi is from Taman Teluk Gedung Indah, Port Klang. Narendran was attacked by group of gangsters during their extortion while he was in restaurant to buy food for the family. His head and hand were seriously injured by parang and he lost part of his right hand and as result his was partly paralyzed. Having three small daughter and wife, daily food in the table become challenges and they were surviving on Meggie mee for several months before their cry was bring to light by RMS Sara & Team video via WhatsApp group. We raised fund for the support of family to buy food and children school items.

Update: The family food situation has come to under control and there are Drs and business people have come forward to arrange artificial electronic hand where he can take thing by himself. Discussion still on progress so far with electronic artificial hand. Children school bus fare and food during school are taking care by sponsor arrange by the school. We keep regular contact with them.

SOLAR LIGHT – WELL WATER SUPPORT

VADEVEL RAMASANY and wife Saraswadie Rengan is from Dominion Estate, Jalan Sungai Lalang, Semenyih, Selangor. Vadevelu and Saraswadie have no children and living in unfinish at Sg Lalang. In 2017, Vadevelu had stroke and partly paralyzed. The used to say in wooden shelter without light, water and toilet facilities for 15 years and upon looking at the damage shelter by the kampung Ketua, requested them to see the help of the land office and manage to get verbal approval to build small house. Vadevelu manage to withdraw the EPF money and build small brick house. Before the completion of the house, he was hospitalized for stroke and recently move into the new house which is without electricity and water. We take up the task by providing temporary solar panel light and also provided them with small well to get water for washing. Their drinking water is supply by their Malay neighbor (100 meter from their house where small Malay restaurants) and that was great help for them. Now they are happy with this basic arrangement by Jayam unlike use to have candle lights for the past 20 years.

Update: We make regular visit to the family and on personal base we buy food items, provide counseling and if time allow, we take them to hospital for regular medical checkup. Recently Vadevelu also installed hear aid on March 5, 2019 from Hospital Rehabilitation – Cheras, Vadevelu has very caring Dr’s and nurses at hospital, some time he goes in with missed appointment but they openly assist him and do the needful without hesitation due to old patent of the hospital – Thanks to all for there sincere support. Since they are childless couple, we try our best to accommodate some of their request for support on personal base.

10 Programs

We are approaching 10 months (Dec 2018) from our establishment and so far, 10 programs we have successfully completed and still moving forward to serve more. We have so far coved area of Education, Food supply, Solar light, Water well, Paralyzed patients, Medical assistance and Counseling. Even though our area of operation limited to Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, but we have expended from Kedah to Johor due to the demand of our service and we look forward to serve the Nations and eventually global as per our Vision Mission. We need strong support of the general public and corporate companies to come forward to support Jayam-NGO and be part of meaningful community.

Over 25 Voluntaries

Currently 25 voluntaries supporting us in our mission by way of visiting the site, follow up, fundraising and sponsorship. We are looking for more voluntaries to join us (1) as paid member for monthly RM 30.00 and (2) support in terms of expertise as resource team.

Funds is the most important element for supporting our activities and we are heavily depending on contribution. We help others

Helping others must come in the way of life of each and every one of us, since more and more people especially senior citizens are becoming major problem when the children leave them and go on their own ways. One-third or 36.1% of senior citizens interviewed in a Malaysian Population and Family survey admitted that they feel lonely as they are ignored by their family members, said the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry. We try our best to attend senior citizens need first as they are at the end of the road and if no one come forward to support them they may chose wrong direction which may result in negative. This is where we channel our fund to provide temporary solutions for sustainability.
